Platypuses are often thought to be the only egg laying mammals. But they are not. An egg laying mammal is called a monotreme. Platypuses and echidnas are monotremes. Echidnas are kid of look like ant eaters because they have long snouts and their diets consist of termites and ants. They are named after a monster in Greek Mythology. They are also close to porcupines and hedgehogs, because they have spines and can roll up in a ball, like a hedgehog. They also live in Australia and New Guinea. I thought I’d write this to give the other monotreme credit.
